Piranha Plant is giving me Little Shop of Horrors' plant vibesĪssuming that's Pauline, she also looks relatively similar to her game design. But I do like the fact he smiles more.Ĭranky Kong looks respectful with that attire.Īren't there armored Koopa Troopas in Paper Mario? I thought of those when I saw the movie ones. I'm still surprised how close Luigi looks to his game design.ĭonkey Kong's face makes me think of Johhny from the Sing movies.īowser looks slimmer, not sure if I like it or not. It's a little hard for me to explain, but those characters I mentioned I consider them Mario in name only. All of them are Mario, but they have something that makes them more unique compared to traditional Mario. Mario, Paper Mario or the Mario in Mario & Luigi. Mario's movie design is not immediately my favorite design, but it's slowly getting there. You can get a good look at each and then vote in the character's respective poll with your favourite design. We have collected together images of every character confirmed to appear in the film and placed it alongside their most recent video game style. With the release of the character posters, we can now see all of the film's starring cast in great detail and settle once and for all which design is better, film or game. ![]() With your help, we are going to be solving that very question below. Were they really necessary, though? Are they better than what we get in the Mario games? From series staples down to the more obscure characters, we have been pretty impressed by all of the silver screen tweaks and enhancements made to the appearance of the plumbers and pals. With every new trailer and poster comes more detailed peeks at Illumination's take on The Mushroom Kingdom and all of the familiar faces that we are going to find therein. Movie will be coming our way in early April (be sure to check out our release date guide for region specifics) and it certainly looks like we are in for a video game adaptation that actually respects its source material. It provides a few hours of enjoyable gameplay, and again it’s a nice trip down memory lane. The Super Mario Bros. The graphics were more annoying than DKL2, enough to impede gameplay, but in the end I still had fun with the game. It’s a relatively fun game for a few hours, with tons of leeway for replay. I’ve come to the same conclusion with Donkey Kong Land 3 as I have with its predecessor. ![]() Much like Donkey Kong Country 3, there’s also the Krematoa area for those to unlock if they collect enough DK coins, which will lead to more difficult stages and the true ending of the game. There’s plenty to collect, such as DK coins, Bonus Coins, Bear Coins, and the KONG letters, and that’ll keep people busy who want to clear the game with 100%. Of course, I didn’t collect everything in the few hours I took beating the game. There’s a different story, kind of, but again it pertains to Dixie Kong and Kiddy Kong looking for Krematoa, so they’re pretty similar. It’s a stripped down version of Donkey Kong Country 3, with the same music, stage concepts and characters, but with brand new level design. I suspect this would not be a problem if this were a Game Boy Color game, but unfortunately that isn’t the case.ĭespite that admittedly big issue, I didn’t have a problem beating the game. The problem most frequently occurred in the waterfall levels. Many a time did I fall off a ledge and other platform because I could barely determine what platform was an actual object in the stage as opposed to a piece of the background. ![]() In Donkey Kong Land 3, the annoyance becomes an actual problem. You may recall my complaint regarding Donkey Kong Land 2 that the backgrounds and character sprites sometimes blended together, causing an annoyance. ![]() The biggest problem, as in DKL2, is with the graphics. But there are some problems I wish Rare would have addressed before release. It’s not a bad game, and in fact I had fun. This is actually one of the easiest Donkey Kong Land games I’ve played. Donkey Kong Land 3 takes more of a streamlined approach. I never liked Kiddy Kong as a protagonist, some of the levels were borderline mean and I think they took the collecting concept to new levels of tedium. There are plenty of things to like about the third Donkey Kong Country game, and there are things that are kind of lame. ![]()
